Supervisor: Professor Alessandro Rosa.
2017-2021- Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences (110/110 cum laude). Tuscia University.
Thesis: Drosophila melanogaster as a model system for the study of human neurodegenerative diseases.
Supervisor: Professor Giorgio Prantera.
PhD PROJECT:
My research project will focus on the study of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) involved in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In vitro models will be used based on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), with or without mutations in disease-genes, which will be differentiated to obtain cell types involved in the disease, primarily Motor Neurons and Skeletal Muscle Cells, also in co-culture. These cell systems reproduce, under conditions of oxidative stress, phenotypes relevant to modelling sporadic ALS.
